Cant believe this is happening. Its so surreal.
For almost all of us, except for the IP kids, its going to be our LAST SYF. my FIFTH and last SYF. the last chance to perform under such a tense atmosphere. strangely, i dont ever want it to come, not because we arent prepared, but because I dont want this phase of my life to pass just yet. SYFs are fun and the experience is amazing. Even now, i can still remember the exact feelings i felt 2 years ago, when SCGS Band won a long-awaited Gold medal. no words could express our heartfelt gratitude to the judges and our pride made our heads swell. even though Catholic High was next to us and was awarded a Gold with Honours, our platforms of expectations for ourselves were alike and both schools burst into screams (or growls of macho-ness for the cat high guys)
whats even more amazing is that now i have all those PRO people in VJ band with me! with the cat high guys, with the dunman high people, with victoria school people - all these people made legacies with their previous schools, and now its OUR TURN. Its true that medals are worth nought when it comes to this stage, because 10 minutes is definitely NOT an accurate telling of the band. even so, medals live long, long enough to inspire batches in future- thats why people strive to earn medals. even so, memories live longer, and forever. therefore this SYF is definitely going to be a cornerstone of my life and a favourite memory :)
my goosebumps are standing and many many band-ish thoughts are running through my mind. as time does not permit my elaboration of these, i have decided to conclude :
1) A BIG THANK YOU TO friends and all band supporters for greeting me with encouragements and sincerely sending your well wishes, as a token of my appreciation, i have remembered ALL OF YOU (hopefully:)
hwee, anthea, jinghan, mark, jason, daniel, edo, darren, phoebe, annabelle, shan, jaclyn
2) congrats to VJCO for attaining a Gold in today's SYF!:))))
3) A BIG THANK YOU to teachers, seniors and alumni. you all deserve somethingreally special and i shall get down to it soon:))
4) last but not least, THANK GOD for sustaining all of us through these past few months of practices and ups and downs in band life, thank you for blessing us with beautiful memories and for blessing me with amazing seniors and friends:) Christa, Koushing, Sidney and Tim, you guys are the giants whose shoulders we will walk on. :)
all the best tomorrow VJ Spartan warriors, lets bring WAR and groove to Singapore Conference Hall!
