life must go on, or must it really?

must life go on?
or can we stop the clocks, just for once?

the youtube video below was put up by matthew, pin rui and benedict, and a fellow band-it who cannot be recognised here due to poor camera resolution.
They sent in this to Music Fest, so in any event that we have to vote for a favourite MV, vote for them!:) (haha, ok I just did a super big favour for you matthew) enjoy! and please remember to press the stop button on my blog song player. yup!:)

Love poems

aloha!:)

ytd's lit lesson was one of the funnest and the best so far, we had to give our own interpretations to people's comparisons of love to anything at all, for eg., love being compared to a book, or even stilettos on a shelf. it was fresh hearing from the guys, especially those you knew to make decisions with their head (not their heart) coming up with super deep and sweet interpretations. kudos!:)

Ms Low also shared a really beautiful love poem with us, here it goes, savour it!

Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone
W. H. Auden

Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,

Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,

Silence the pianos and with muffled drum

Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.

Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead

Scribbling on the sky the message He Is Dead,

Put crepe bows round the white necks of the public doves,

Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves.

He was my North, my South, my East and West,

My working week and my Sunday rest,

My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;

I thought that love would last for ever: I was wrong.

The stars are not wanted now: put out every one;

Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun;

Pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood.

For nothing now can ever come to any good.

awww. to get a better effect, please read it out.:)

anyway, after school I headed home with annabelle to bathe and change first before heading down to town for "Iwo Jima". the movie was good but it seemed a bit monotonous. what I could reinforce was my belief that war is indeed futile and it hurts to know how many people died out there in clashes and wars. They claim they get recognised by the country once history is written in golden books but this is not true, unless you were already a known figure like Lim Bo Seng or something, you are only recognised within the mass. Once you are blown to dust, (literally and figuratively), you exist as tears and scars on loved ones, and maybe just one of those poor souls lying among those 'brave souls'.

After the movie, hwee, annabelle, vera and I strolled down the streets to Wheelock, where we purchased ice creams from Dairy Queen.:) Yum! after enjoying it and chatting about our overseas trips and discussing class bbq etc, I headed back with vera while annabelle and hwee cabbed home.:) vera and I had a roaring good time on the way back as usual! and when i alighted at eunos, I bumped into jinghan! apparently the guys went to the nice budget sushi place at cine to eat after the movie but they still ended up going home the same time as us!

the resolution is real bad. but oh well. from left, me, vera, hwee and annabelle:))

Finally reached home at 11.30 plus, finished some work, then knocked out at 1 am. It's amazing I actually managed to wake up today. ! yay! next post on today!:)

band

25 more band pracs to SYF!
more sectionals!

Was just chatting to kristen, and she told me that in AC band, Wenlong is playing the same part as I am (crash) for Star Wars, and he got loads of scolding from Dr Lee because it just wasnt satisfactory! omgosh! if wenlong's isnt satisfactory, then mine would be like, hmmm... anyway, things are getting pretty stressful, because now everything's up to yourself to handle etc.

Im finally giving my treat to weiting tmr!:)) then after that gonna head for the movie "letters from Iwo Jima" with my school's history department!
TAA:)

next-

hello again:))
today i watched the musicfest auditions!!yay!
I think the best bands were 07A12, and Daniel's band - 6 Significant figures. aha, cool! Zach's band was not bad too, he looks super shy but apparently not when he's playing.!
07A12 was great because Zara sang super well, and harmonised fantastically with Phoebe! and Dan's band was fantabulous because their band has got great dynamics, the music was tight and pro section-mate Matthew was on the drums!!

Really hope these 3 teams get through:) And i really really want to go for MusicFest!!
omgosh, if i dont get a balloted ticket, can someone please invite me? * gives sweetest smile*

God is here,

Hello!:)

this morning's prayer session was good. I just couldnt help thanking and praising God for always being here with me. He is a friend who listens ALL the time. Thank you God.:)
today I felt so down and out. It's strange because I purposely slept early ytd so that I could be recharged and fresh, but instead I felt the opposite. bleh. I was actually TRYING to sleep during Econs (which I failed miserably at because I had to copy all the notes down:( I really want to drop econs, but I know I cant, because its "useful" and Theatre Studies and Drama cant be taken with History. eeeks.

I ate with the sc girls today! oooh! first time man! ate with zara, kelly and camille:) and I received gifts from my band angel and mortal.:) And i discovered that the Ethel in Zara's class IS Ethel Hoon!! oh my gosh! St. Marg's Ethel Hoon! oh my, can you imagine, I only actually talked to a primary school friend today! she looks SO different from my last impression of her! what a small world! haha after 2 hours I went up to the treehouse to join my class, and I sat dangerously upon two stilts up the house.:) a super big bee came to terrorise all the girls like 5 times. sorry boys if our shrill screams nearly deafened you:) bees are horrendously dangerous ok.

haha, anyway I hate rumours! omgosh. they are my MOST HATED. stop it rumour-spreaders.
it destroys impressions. It creates barriers. It destroys relationships. It is NOT HEALTHY.

anyway, I dont ever feel like doing work. oh dear, I need strength and discipline.

X- country:)

Hello everyone!
this morning started off great because I met up with Faizah to complete our OG invitations for our OGLS, on BANANAS.:)) we also called each one of them up and lo and behold, thankfully Faizah called Darren! this call woke sleepyhead up from bed and helped him rush down to school on time for him to join the boys' race:) haha he was also so proud of doing a "2 second" climb over the school gate. hmmm!

today was VJ's cross country! it was FANTASTIC:) mightily accomplishing finishing the whole thing without walking. I also survived it even though having stitches! yay, and of course I had pretty hwee vera and jaclyn as company:)) Vera and I were also painted with green paint on our cheeks, GO LYNX!:) our house came in 3rd! yay! we also made it back in less than 20 min, so we managed to watch the guys set off. haha the guy who came in first was amazing. After the guys left school, Vera and I left our wonderful seat under the treehouse to walk around the canteen for awhile to talk to hwee, tricia and jaclyn, then we came out and hung around for awhile, and guess what? The Champ came running in, still full of speed and strength, FIRST. 4.8km in 17 minutes!

After the whole race was over, we had the prize giving ceremony in the hall, which ended with our 6 mass dances! haha this time it was much better than the last, because I could execute more steps, having had more practice, and plus my partner for the friendship dance was someone of the opposite sex (without me grabbing him) so it was much more fun! a13 headed to parkway for lunch then maybe pool again. I swear Mark is addicted to Pool bigg time. but i had to leave with my OG. we chilled out in school while waiting for joel and tracy, then we headed for OG JTS! (juniors treat seniors) at Changi Airport Swensens!:)

it was super super super fun playing all the games and dares:) yay I love Raven:)
we left at 5 plus, because Tracy had to head to church, and darren had to head to ccab for hockey prac. In the train, Tracy was intent of catching me unglam on cam! ahh!! haha! anyway most of our mates got down quite soon, and then I finally left Tracy, joel and darren at eunos. guess what, according to Darren, its been confirmed that the SC motto has been changed to Bold and Beautiful??!! ahh! Its weird hearing about your own alma mater from another person. Tracy and Joel are also going to treat us (Seniors-treat-juniors)at Island Creamery after J2 common tests!!:) YAY!
ok, after first 3 months, I MUST really catch up on my work, if not ill be dead meat. I realised that after coming to VJ, im constantly reaching home late and broke. eeeks. but even though I eat alot, im healthier, because the outings at east coast park bring me closer to nature and helps me burn some (ok, maybe alot) of my fats (running and cycling). YAY!:) the slack-ness of my class and school-mates freak me out. I must remember, that im unlike all of them, im not that perfect all- rounder! anyway, J-T-S has finally been organized and successfully executed for both our class and my OG!!! yay!! ok next, JTS for percussionists? haha then, we get 3 S-T-Js back! its amazing how VJ is full of such "traditions".

good luck J2s for all the tests!:) and the TSD people for your Prelims prac:)
tomorrow is gonna be madness, because I gotta rush off after school for my dental appt then rush back for Sectionals. !! Prayer meeting in the morning!! yess!:))

What can I do, but thank You?
What can I do, but give my life to You?

hearts hearts:))

hello! yesterday was Valentine's Day!

I guess I had some reserves at first, spending Valentine's Day in a co-ed school for the FIRST time. I thought how we spent V'day in SC would just become memories, where all girls exchanged friendship-love letters, cookies and what not, ( I still miss the hugs though). However, everything turned out to be a pleasant surprise!

Firstly, our class guys had all prepared sets of gifts for each and every girl in our class! they contributed their individual presents and gave a combined heart-card which was laminated and pretty:) yay. Secondly, they had placed all of them on separate tables, and we girls had to guess which was ours without flipping the cards over to check the name the card was addressed to. We could also ask them 3 questions to aid our search.

I guess it was this organised activity among the guys that really touched us and naturally, they were elevated to a higher status of maturity than before (sorry guys!). :) So I guess the guys were more prepared than us girls huh. I only made paper hearts with gold lining which greeted them with the cliched 'Happy Valentine's _______!' haha but at least I did something, not like lazy vera! haha!:0

besides that, I received a heart-shaped box of Ferrero Rochers from my senior class Angel Denny!:) haha thanks Denny! you were a great angel!:) thanks Nadiah for the sweet also, its at sweet as you:) lastly, when i thought the Valentine's Day fever would have died, after band prac at 7, matthew presented me with a whole glass jar of choc cookies he baked himself!! that guy is seriously a strongman. how did he manage to lug tons of those glass jars to school?!!...

all the gifts were so wonderful, i couldnt bear to eat them up or disseminate them in my cupboard or kitchen without taking a picture of it first... so here goes!:)

so sweet huh!:))

haha anyway, ytd was also great because we had our first prayer session!:) joshua and chia wen, thanks for listening and praying for me:) also, happy birthday to... xinlin, valerie and liangjie!:) v'day is a wonderful day to be born on.:) thanks vera and annabelle for running (or walking) the cross country distance with me today. it was SOO FUN. cant wait for cross country.:))

TODAY:

I cant believe it. Why does everyone keep asking me how my "hot date" went huh?! Quit it man! LOL. I met senior class member Alex on the way to school and a hint of that question popped up. then it was jun jin and jason who relentless pursued. no matter what answer I gave, truth or not, they were just not satisfied! then it was beatrice with the sms! woah! besides that, I was constantly teased throughout the whole of chinese break and break which is for like 2 hours and 20 min?!... haha I was SO relieved when the chinese people returned. annabelle, vera and hwee saved me:)

haha anyway jason, please stop worrying! Im FINE. I swear I am. Im not faking happy and im not even happier than before ok! just because you cant believe someone can still be so happy after whats happened, doesnt mean I cant be that person!!:) Like I told you, and ill say again for you and everyone else reading my blog who is still worrying for me,

1) Im not faking being happy.

2) Im just as happy as before.

3) Its good to stay positive.

ok?:)

this morning was SC walkabout for the SC nominees. Haha for once, I was thankful I wasnt running anymore. They go through near-hell! Shaosheng and Wuyue were totally trashed in my class, but thankfully Camille and Su survived it just by singing the school anthem! The worst was towards the end, Boss had to ask Shaosheng this- "Why are you running for SC, I still don't understand! " Oh dear, sorry I failed to save you guys. haha. it wasnt that bad la huh? I'm sure you braced yourselves for THE ARTS classes right! my class is so sweet, but mean at the same time. Jason and Jun Jin said they didnt see the need to vote for anyone anymore, since I wasn't running anymore. cheer up man, there's still JingHan for CT council and Jason for House Comm!:))

after school, the girls headed up to the treehouse to chill and talk. and of course, who could escape watching the guys softball team train huh?...*winks at Vera:) haha ok, I shall stop here. just finished talking to Kristen and updating myself on the ACJC Perc section. hmmmph. I really miss the AC peeps and percussionists.

a quarter of me wants to go to AC, but 3 quarter of me still wants to stay here in VJ.:))

When tides turn,

greetings:)

Firstly, I shall reply to people who tagged on my blog.:)
Chiawen: Yes thank you :) I will do my best and once again, thanks for being such a greaat friend cw! I love you:)
Hwee: hey hwee:)) yess im much better, thanks for your encouragement and your sweet smile everyday! I really thank God for getting to know you! amazing you are!:)
jon muk: yes bro:) I will do my best to accept and its really great to know that He knows us even more than how we know ourselves:0
matthew: hey matthew:) yes i will take care, you too alright?! haha i dont drink man, hot choc perhaps? LOL.:)
Pity Junk age: hey eugene:) thanks for your encouragement too, yes LET'S FIGHT AND RUN THE RACE!:)

I just visited Annabelle's blog and I instantaneously felt like blogging. She mentioned how she always felt happy at the end of everyday despite it being draining and tiring. This in indeed true, and can I add that, I actually really really look forward to going to school everyday? This feeling is just amazing. VJC just has something really special about it, could it be 07a13? or band? or both? I think its everything. ranging from the east to the west of the campus, there's this unique energy that really clicks with me. Up to today, I haven't ever regretted coming to Victoria Junior College. :)

"Too chinese", some say, "Too far east!", "culture shock!", others say. Well, its apparent that each JC has its strengths and weaknesses, and no JC can ever be good or bad, but rather how the individual can mould himself into the new environment. Some fit in perfectly, some are forced to fit in and some just don't fit in. To those out there, many actually, who are trying to figure out where the best place is for you, I sincerely wish you all the best, and, make your decision quick, tomorrow's the last day of JAE registration!:)

today was super sweet, (besides it being the day before Valentines' Day!) because nearly my whole class was trying to read my expression throughout the whole day. From the morning where I removed the big orange SC badge till during PE where I sat out because I was having a runny nose, I could see that some of them didnt believe I was really really ok. Now im saying to all you guys: Im really fine and Im NOT in DENIAL ok?! especially to Lucas and Jason, relax! Im not trying to be happy ok, I AM happy:) because I thank God for His Grace to allow me to continue basking in the VJ atmosphere for as long as I can:) To faizah, thanks for our little chat before PE, you're so sweet:))

tomorrow's V'day!! I shall go off now to make nice stuff for you nice people.:) taa!

I will boast in the Lord my God,
I will boast in the ONE who is worthy:)

:)

thanks chiawen :))
God never moves without purpose or plan, when trying His servant and moulding a man. Give thanks to the Lord though your testing seems long. In darkness He giveth a song. O rejoice in the Lord, He makes no mistake. He knoweth the end of each path that I take. For when I am tired and purified, I shall come forth as gold. Everything happens for a purpose, a higher purpose we are unable to see right now, but we can always trust that God IS in control and He alone knows best.:)
this weekend has been absolutely trying as well as amazing. Trying because of some of my close friends' as well as my own disappointing results, Joanne's leave to Australia and the acceptance of having to drop SC, and possibly but hopefully not, VJ. However, it has been amazing because of the people around me, and the mere companionship of the Lord.
Thanks sidney for listening to me, thanks jinghan, jason, andre and vera for picking me up after I had fallen, and thanks xinhui and jess for cycling with me on saturday:)) thanks VJ and SC percussionists for brightening up my day so much this weekend. :) thanks mr jeow, weiting, jasmine, peace, eunice, camille, hwee, jon muk, cheryl, meiying too:)) weiting, your ice cream treat is still waiting for you!:) im seriously going to laugh if I get posted to AC again. LOL.
Bye Joanne! Im going to miss miss miss you:) You have been one my best friends these 4 years, thanks for always being there for me, especially on mondays and fridays in SC:) thanks for quarrelling with me and enjoying the madness with me, may the Lord bless you and keep you safe always. :)

:)

hello all,
tomorrow is the day.:)
sincerely, all the very best!

Even though I hate to say this, even though we'll still see each other in school, and even though the O Level results are not THAT important after we've already come to this stage, Ill say all I can to those around me first.

Firstly, I really love VJC! It was my ideal school, and it will always be.:))first choice.:)
I also love ARTS FAC! we bring colour to VJ!:) we are the speakers, the party poppers, the wacky bunch:) I love 07A13, oh my gosh, I Praise and Thank the Lord for bringing you all to me! A priceless bunch! its amazing how quick you all have such a special place in my heart!
I love VJCSB! even though the whole band and I aren't that close yet, the percussion section is amazingg. Thanks Sidney, Christa, Timothy and Koushing for having so much faith in me, for being excellent role models in everyway. thanks fellow batchmates xinhui, beatrice, jessica and matthew. I love you guys! Thank you fellow Lynx Student Council nominees!:) congrats on our successfully finished house speeches!:)

Today was an amazing day. Our class hung out together after school, basking in the last day of being a PAE Victorian.:) we went bowling and chilled out! its amazing how the guys are so super confident. GENIUSES. Anyway, special thanks go to Sidney, my perc SL. thanks for going through the appeal procedure with me, while still having so much faith in us.:) after I get my results, I got to sms/call a million people! ill call my family, then call my classmates, then perc section and band, then council people! :) thanks guys for being so concerned and wonderful. no words can express my gratitude!:))

love, meiyi:)

The Big Orange Badge.

hello!

yess guys. I gotta wear this horrible horrible Big Orange Badge now and forever till next friday when election results are out. I even have to wear it back to SC next week to collect results! eeeks! anyway, more and more people are pulling out of Council so far, because of the tough stringent rules we are expected to abide by. Its not THAT bad yet though, and this morning the school presented us house by house to the cohort! We did the boomy dynamite cheer and we wore colourful hairbands with cat ears. GO L-Y-N-X!:) shameless we are!

anyway, more on my campaign, im running together with the rest of the nominees from lynx, as well as with Ye Zi and Camille. Im still considering if I should run solo also. anyway, thank God for my very supportive class - they are even more enthu than me!:) today at the end of lit lecture they suddenly shouted "vote for meiyi!" heh and nearly all my teachers know im running too. oh dear, I just realised this morning that this big orange badge with my name printed in such a large font you could see it from miles away) meant that I got to do ALL my homework and not stone in class anymore. The carrot cake, chicken rice and fruit juice aunties are also gonna help me by giving out 'tokens' to all consumers! Camille! I cant believe we're doing this either! heh! I think this campaign is going to mean SO much more than the literal aim of getting into Council, its going to make me learn to be more brave, to be more sure of myself as well as to have faith in things, because as Jason said, God Will provide a way.:)

today was Daniel's birthday too! Happy 17th! Dan's the man! heh! Mark printed posters of Daniel's pretty face and at the bottom it read :" HI! IM DANIEL AND IM THE CT REP OF (THE BESTEST ARTS FAC CLASS)07A13! TODAY IS MY BIRTHDAY! WISH ME HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" haha, aint we horrible! the guys stuck them all over school and especially near all the places we were going for lessons today. heh:)

Saturday's SLV (Service Learning Venture) at Sentosa was wonderful! the kids enjoyed themselves and so did we:) I got dunked twice though, which is UNFAIR because only veralyne and I got really dunked dunked. the rest of the girls didnt get touched at all! only wet! mark has the video of me getting dunked! haha i was totally disfiguring Jason's shirt and trying to compromise with them! after that we headed to Vivo, had carls junior while watching the sea and the sentosa view. beautiful.:) headed home with vera and hwee. yay i love you guys I really do!:)
vera and hwee!:))
annabelle, me and anthea!!:) I love you sweeties!
jinghan and andre playing with the kids.:) Its really cool, because the kids are so cute!
me, poser jason and anthea:)
jaclyn me and vera:))
some of the class guys and a kid:)
a priceless photo!!:)

dont be mistaken, we didnt go to sentosa just to play! haha we brought the children fom Su Chen Lan Methodist Home to Sentosa for a whole day of games and activities, and I shall hereby thank Jing Han, my partner, being group leaders of Charmander (Pokemon theme)! Bringing 4 quite mischievous boys around was seriously no joke and especially at the musical fountain, when they totally lunged into the water. phew. Thank God for perfect weather and a successful assignment completed:))

Thursday, 1 February 2007

Hello cupid:)

hello,
happy first of february everyone:))
during lit today, vera said she would slap me if i didnt stay in VJ, heh. of course Ill stay if i could babe, i just need good results man! you lucky softballer dsa person! eeeks! lol. then, we could wear the beautiful uniform forever, and malu ourselves like mad while running for council and house comm. heh. we could hang out every tuesday and go mad during lessons.

anyway, yesterday's econs lesson was the best for me but the worst for many people. I was sharing table with our teacher's fave boy :jason, so i was pretty safe. but she kept picking on the girls' table as usual. and mark actually said " I can't believe I'm actually looking forward to chinese after this."haha! that shows how bad it was man...

since today was the first of a new month, i decided to try something new. I followed the hardworking mugging people (tricia and lucas) to the library during our 2 hour and 20 min break! well, for the first 15 min, I was so amused and highly excited at the wondrously silent venue ( which is such a contrast to almost anywhere else in the school) The silence was deafening.. Everyone was studying so seriously! man! I was more surprised to meet people like camille and sidney!! wow! i cleared up most of the math doubts and Lucas was having so much fun ironing out all my math wrong-concepts. heh.:)thanks! meanwhile, the SC thing is stressing me out man. I need a good house speech. and a fresh campaigning idea. and a "shameless" brave heart. its hard to get down to it while not having enough conviction. i feel bad for juggling band along with sc. i feel guilty sacrificing band pracs! aah! and dont make me feel worse dafril, sidney, matthew and jessica and beatrice!! dont!

meanwhile, jason and vera and denise and nat phua are running for house comm! its wonderful having old friends and new being mutual friends now! during math, jason was lending D all his partial fractions and D was sharing us jokes about a papaya and banana. haha sorry teacher, but trigo's actually quite easy but your formulas just make everything more difficult. we also managed to get sponsorship for the kids' entries into Sentosa on Saturday! yippie!:)

Im praying for good results, a satisfying campaign period and for ties between friends to stay strong. bye!:)
