Love poems

aloha!:)

ytd's lit lesson was one of the funnest and the best so far, we had to give our own interpretations to people's comparisons of love to anything at all, for eg., love being compared to a book, or even stilettos on a shelf. it was fresh hearing from the guys, especially those you knew to make decisions with their head (not their heart) coming up with super deep and sweet interpretations. kudos!:)

Ms Low also shared a really beautiful love poem with us, here it goes, savour it!

Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone
W. H. Auden

Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,

Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,

Silence the pianos and with muffled drum

Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.

Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead

Scribbling on the sky the message He Is Dead,

Put crepe bows round the white necks of the public doves,

Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves.

He was my North, my South, my East and West,

My working week and my Sunday rest,

My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;

I thought that love would last for ever: I was wrong.

The stars are not wanted now: put out every one;

Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun;

Pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood.

For nothing now can ever come to any good.

awww. to get a better effect, please read it out.:)

anyway, after school I headed home with annabelle to bathe and change first before heading down to town for "Iwo Jima". the movie was good but it seemed a bit monotonous. what I could reinforce was my belief that war is indeed futile and it hurts to know how many people died out there in clashes and wars. They claim they get recognised by the country once history is written in golden books but this is not true, unless you were already a known figure like Lim Bo Seng or something, you are only recognised within the mass. Once you are blown to dust, (literally and figuratively), you exist as tears and scars on loved ones, and maybe just one of those poor souls lying among those 'brave souls'.

After the movie, hwee, annabelle, vera and I strolled down the streets to Wheelock, where we purchased ice creams from Dairy Queen.:) Yum! after enjoying it and chatting about our overseas trips and discussing class bbq etc, I headed back with vera while annabelle and hwee cabbed home.:) vera and I had a roaring good time on the way back as usual! and when i alighted at eunos, I bumped into jinghan! apparently the guys went to the nice budget sushi place at cine to eat after the movie but they still ended up going home the same time as us!

the resolution is real bad. but oh well. from left, me, vera, hwee and annabelle:))

Finally reached home at 11.30 plus, finished some work, then knocked out at 1 am. It's amazing I actually managed to wake up today. ! yay! next post on today!:)
