Farewell...

This post comes after a meaningful farewell not only for Mr. Jeow (SCGS Band Teacher-In-Charge) but also us, yes the batch of sec 4s 2006. Oh yes, not forgetting, Miss Rosalind Heng who is retiring from her post as principal of SCGS. Ok, maybe its just me, but I really feel sentimental over the affairs of SC.

***
I remember the first day I stepped foot into SC. There I was, still clad in my polka-dotted St. Margaret's uniform. Standing at a mere 1.3m (the most), I was overwhelmed by the surrounding. Yes, I admit it, I hated it. I was never going to let this school take the place of my wonderful primary school. I really loved SMPS by the way. With zilch good friends to take this step with me, (as most had decided to either go back to St. Margaret's or other schools), I was thrown to this foreign place, left to fend for myself, and perhaps to do my best to make a new friend or two?

Slowly...this girl grew...through the tests of time, happy or sad, through the screw ups of any normal life. And guess where she learnt most of her lessons from?... It had gotta be when she was in SCGS Band...of course im not abandoning my classes and Pb.. haha

Clarinetist's greetings:)

ahha, yea this was the "information" provided to all sec ones this year during orientation...

I remember making this choice 4 years back... and its one that I would never ever regret. In band was where I learnt from my gravest mistake, where I've dealt (and I'm not sure if i've handled it) with the most difficult relationship, earned the truest of friends, earned the greatest scolding ever, given the most prayers for and will remember it most dearly forever. I've done the craziest of things inside this room, yet learnt the most in here. From coming in at 5 plus or staying till 8 plus (or maybe till midnight?:)) to finish work like bookmarks and keychains for newcomers or slogging to put up decorations or simply having exco meetings when we were dead after school, this place meant so much not only to me, but to all members in our Band.

Thank God for all you wonderful people, Mr Yap: for your amazing talent for conducting music under your baton, Mr Jeow and Ms Soh: for grilling us especially Michelle, Chara, Eunice and I till the last hours of the day especially during camps and our trip to Kedah, for exposing our weaknesses and forcing us to reflect and improve, Ms Ng and Ms Leong: for having so much patience to deal with us section by section, and for getting my priorities right (music, in this aspect). Thank you security guards for chasing us home and even singing us songs while waiting for us to pack up, and always having patience even though that "5 minutes more, uncle!" seemed all too familiar. :) Thank God for my wonderful seniors, who have exemplified the example from which Im learning everyday, thank you juniors, who always give me a sense of purpose in everything I do (or try to do), and finally Band as a whole, for giving me this amazing experience. At the end of the day, it really wasnt that A1 for CCA that most of us got or that Gold for SYF 2005 that we treasure or remembere, but it was the arduous journey we embarked upon and the trials we encountered that carves our character which we have today.

I remember exactly 2 weeks before prelims, I made a firm resolution not to step foot into the Band room till after O' Levels. Haha because everytime i stepped in, I would stay for hours and hours... I always feel so proud when i see our next batch in that wonderful room practising. Indeed its not going to be easy, but keep looking up guys!
